In Saturday's IHSAA 3A Regional Championship bout, the NorthWood Panthers baseball squad overwhelmed the Highland Trojans, by a tally of 8-1. The victory brought home back-to-back Regional Titles and the 5th in program history. The Panthers were able to open up to a 2-0 lead after the 2nd inning. Highland was able to get one back in the 3rd inning with the Panthers working out of a jam. The Panthers were able to separate the game in the 5th and 6th innings putting up 2 and 3 runs respectively. Junior Finley Miller was victorious on the mound going 6 1/3 innings, striking out 6 and surrendering only 3 hits on the day. Offensively, the Panthers were led by Drew Rains with 3 hits and an RBI. Miller, Ryder Ransberger, and Ean Bogan each had two hits. Brady Blackford had two RBIs on the day. Next up, the Panthers travel to LaPorte High School for the IHSAA 3A Semi-State to face Norwell on Saturday, June 13.
