Panthers welcome 14 varsity teams to Maxwelton Golf Club as Warsaw claims team championship and NorthWood gains valuable early-season experience. NorthWood Athletics welcomed one of the area's strongest fields to Maxwelton Golf Club on Thursday for the 2026 NorthWood Girls Golf Invitational, where 14 varsity teams competed in cloudy conditions with intermittent rain throughout the morning and afternoon. Warsaw captured the team championship with a tournament-best score of 325, finishing ahead of Northridge (334) and Lake Central (339). For the host Panthers, the invitational provided an opportunity to compete against many of northern Indiana's top programs while continuing to build experience early in the 2026 season. NorthWood, playing in their 4th 18-hole tournament in 4 days, finished 10th with a team score of 443, led by junior Cora Coffin, who paced the Panthers with an 18-hole round of 98. Coffin opened with a 43 on the front nine before carding a 55 on the back to record the team's low round of the day. She was followed by Payton Everingham (108), Mia Jarrell (112), Chloe Myers (125), and Addie Keck (131) in the team scoring. NorthWood's Black team also competed, with Harper Titus posting a 132 and Ava Sellon finishing with a 140. The invitational featured several outstanding individual performances. Wawasee freshman Finley Baker earned medalist honors with an impressive 2-under-par 70. Warsaw's Anya Puthucode and South Bend St. Joseph's Lucy Dunham each fired rounds of 74, with Puthucode claiming second place via the tournament tiebreaker. Lake Central's Katelyn Benda placed fourth with a 76, while Northridge's Kennadi Kropf rounded out the top five at 79.
